Jeff Mwangi Memorial in Oslo

The Association of Kenyans in Norway (AKIN) hosted a memorial ceremony for the late Jeff Mwangi Kwirikia in Oslo. In attendance was the family joined by over 200 friends at a ceremony where the history of Jeff and his family life took center stage.

Church ceremony follows this Friday 10th. February 2012 at 11:00 (CET). The venue is Ullensaker Church in Akershus. As reported earlier today, AKIN is planning to hire a bus to ferry mourners from Oslo to the Church - Details will follow once we receive them.

AKIN Chairman says the venue will be in Oslo and that the association will come back to us with details of the same once the board and the funeral committee are ready with the program for the day.

We are sad to announce the sudden death of a fellow Kenyan in Norway. Jeff Mwangi Kwirikia (Stella Mwangi's father) was killed by a hit and run car along Riksvei 50 between Dal and Jessheim at around 14:09 (CET), Tuesday.

The vehicle involved in the accident is said to be a dark brown, blue or black car possibly a Partner or Berlingo. The car was last observed driving northwards from Dal towards Råholt on Trondheimsveien.

Signs on the car are said to include, but not limited to, a damaged windscreen caused by the impact of the accident.

Raila: Stop slum demolitions

Prime Minister Raila Odinga ordered a halt to slum demolitions which has claimed at least three lives and left several injured and lots of property damaged. It is disheartening to see how brutal law enforcement officers deal with their victims in the following footage.

Three people died and several others were injured at Mukuru Kwa Njenga slum in Nairobi as residents protested demolition of shanties in the area. Two people were shot dead while the third met her death through electrocution as the residents engaged the police in running battles for over six hours. Residents refused to vacate houses alleged to have been built on land owned by a private developer.

The International Criminal Court (ICC) has confirmed charges against Eldoret North MP William Ruto, Deputy Prime Minister Uhuru Kenyatta, Head of Civil Service Mr. Francis Muthaura and Journalist Joshua Sang. The ruling was delivered by the ICC judge Ekaterina Trendafilova at The Hague Monday.

Presenting the ruling, the Judge said the court was satisfied with Lois Moreno Ocampo’s evidence against Ruto and Sang in Turbo, Kapsabet, Eldoret and Nandi Hills. She further stated that Sang and Ruto were to face charges for “crimes against humanity, murder, deportation, forcible transfer and persecution” that led to the death of hundreds of civilians. Uhuru and Muthaura faces charges of "crimes against humanity, specifically murder, deportation, rape and persecution".

Two Ocampo suspects had their cases dropped when the court declared the evidence against them not enough to sustain the charges earlier levelled against them. The two are former Commissioner of Police Maj-Gen (Rtd) Hussein Ali and Tinderet MP Henry Kosgey.

Reactions galore immediately after the ruling with Kass FM radio presenter Joshua Sang expressing disappointment that the ICC had confirmed the charges against him. Mr Sang said “the court has spoken. I strongly disagree with its findings and I shall invoke all available legal means to contest the conclusions made both in the immediate and in the long term”. He further said “I take this confirmation as a test on my faith and I entrust my destiny to God, in whom I have faith in an ultimate acquittal and vindication. I pray to God to guide my advocate’s plan for my defence.”

Eldoret North MP William Ruto said the charges were strange to him and announced that despite the developments at the ICC, he will remain focused on his presidential bid. “I am persuaded and clear in my mind that however long it takes, the truth will prevail, my innocence confirmed and the devil put to shame.” According to his analysis, Ruto confirmed that the current constitution of Kenya allows him to contest for the Presidency despite the pending court case. “To my friends and supporters, I wish to categorically state that I am firmly in the race and to my worthy competitors let us meet at the ballot and may the will of Kenyans prevail,” said Ruto.

Deputy PM Uhuru Kenyatta reiterated his innocence and insisted that he was innocent of the charges of crimes against humanity that the ICC preferred against him. Uhuru said “I would like to reiterate before the people of Kenya and before the entire world that my conscience is clear, has been clear and will always remain clear that I am innocent of all the accusations that have been leveled against me”.

On his part, Kenya’s President Mwai Kibaki ordered Attorney General Prof Githu Muigai to form a legal team to advise the Government on how to respond to the ICC ruling.

Kalonzo proposes Kenya Diaspora Parliamentary Seat

Kenya’s Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka proposed Sunday that Kenyan Diaspora should be represented in parliament as a recognition of (among others) the economic contributions made to the country. If implemented, Kenyans in the Diaspora will have a stronger voice and officially participate in the mainstream politics of the country. The Kenyan Diaspora has an estimated 3,4 million potential voters.

"The Diaspora remits a huge amount of money to Kenya’s economy every year and your participation in national building in this particular way should be recognized," the Vice-President said amidst thunderous applause. The remittances are now said to total USD 475 million, a 27 per cent rise from an earlier USD 350, 9 million. A deeper look at the figures shows that Kenyans in the Diaspora remitted a whooping Kshs. 8, 8 billion in the month of October 2011 alone.

The VP was addressing Kenyans in East London where he was accompanied by among others the Minister for Special Programmes, Esther Murugi, Assistant Ministers, Kabando wa Kabando, Ephraim Maina, Asman Kamama, and the Government Chief Whip, Johnstone Muthama as well as the Home Affairs Permanent Secretary, Dr Ludeki Chweya.

Norwegian Justice Minister Resigns

Norways Justice Minister, Knut Storberget has resigned and immediately succeeded by Grete Faremo who until today was the Defence Minister. Faremo has earlier served the country in the same capacity as assigned to her today. The Defence Ministry will from today be headed by Hon Espen Berth Eide who until his appointment was the State Secretary.

Announcing the changes, Norway's Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg stated that Hon Storberget had presented his resignation plans earlier but was requested by the PM to stay put until a later date. Knut had, at the time of resignation, served the country as Justice Minister for six years.

KCPE EXAMS 2011

This year's Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) examinations start on Tuesday 8th. November 2011.

A total of 775,820 are expected to sit the three day examination which marks the end of the eight years of Primary education. KCPE candidates are expected to tackle at least five papers including English Language and Composition, Maths (Tuesday), Kiswahili Language and Insha, Kenyan Sign Language and Composition (Wednesday), Social Studies and Religious Education on Thursday. Kenyan Sign Language and Composition will also be tackled on Wednesday.

A second grenade attack in Nairobi

The 'bloody' monday started by a man throwing a grenade at a bar in downtown Nairobi at around 1am. The same day a deadly attack hit the city at 19:00 (EAT) when a second grenade was detonated at the OTC bus terminus on Temple Road leaving one killed and several injured. The attacked terminus is near Jack and Jill Supermarket and the Salvation Army Headquarters where matatus plying the route to Kiambu pick and drop passengers.

According to Police Commisioner, Mathew Iteere, "It is clear their targets were innocent commuters who crowd the area during rush hours to catch a means home." The Director of Criminal Investigation Department Mr Ndegwa Muhoro joined Mr Iteere in comandeering rescue vehicles to help the injured as the police and GSU cordoned the scene of the explosion.

Nairobi grenade attacks

Kenya Police suspect members of the al-Shabaab militia for the grenade attacks that left at least 14 people injured in Nairobi Monday night. Since Kenyan soldiers entered Somalia last week in pursuit of the group, several threats of attack have been registered from al-Shabaab.

According to witnesses, an uidentified man threw a grenade into Mwaura's Pub off Mfangano Street in Nairobi at around 01:30 (EAT) Monday morning. Reports have it that the militant al-Shabaab group has already claimed responsibility for the attack.

Utviklingshuset in Oslo was full to capacity during today's memorial ceremony to honour the late Nobel Peace laureate, Kenya's own Prof Wangari Maathai. Speakers from several organisations, media, Nobel Instutute, ForUM, FOKUS, PAWA and the Chairman of the Association of Kenyans in Norway (AKIN) graced the ceremony. Among the attendees were four other AKIN board members including the Secretary and the Treasurer. Philo Ikonya recited well tendered and befitting poems in memory of Wangari Maathai. Pan African Women's Associacion (PAWA) summed up the event with a song and dance. All attendees were then invited to mingle and enjoy a bite or two at the lobby.

Kenya ranked top in gender reforms

Kenya has been voted the best country in the world for passing laws that enable women to conduct business during the last two years.

A new World Bank and International Finance Corporation report rates Kenya highly in a global survey of what governments are doing to remove barriers that stop women from conducting business.

“This year, Kenya was the economy with the highest number of reforms in the areas covered in Women, Business and the Law,” the report states.

The report commends Kenya for passing laws that enable women access financial institutions, matrimonial and family property more easily. “Many of the documented changes came about through the new Constitution.

“This legal reform eliminated gender differentiation under the law relating to a woman’s ability to pass her nationality to her child or spouse, entitles every Kenyan to a passport and all registration or identity documents issued to citizens, and guarantees freedom of movement into, out of and within Kenya for all citizens,” the report notes.

Customary law
It observes that Kenya had also managed to make customary law subordinate to the Constitution.
“In fact, customary law is now void if it is inconsistent with the Constitution.

“Moreover, the same Constitution grants women equal rights before, during and after marriage. It also grants women equality of inheritance rights for the first time,” it says.

The document notes that only 10 countries in sub-Saharan Africa, led by Kenya, have eliminated laws that discriminate against women in the acquisition of property or basic legal transactions such as signing contracts or even getting a passport.

Other countries that have eliminated such discriminative laws against women are Angola, Burkina Faso, Ethiopia, Liberia, Mauritius, Namibia, South Africa and Zimbabwe.

However, the report faults Zambia for retaining customary laws or personal laws that discriminate against women.

It also gives the example of the Democratic Republic of Congo where married women need the consent of their husbands to lodge any case in court.

The report states that only Kenya had made legal changes that affect the use of property.

Martha Wangui Kiiru (27) claims her one year old son Evans lost his life in February 2011 due to negligence and poor treatment by the medical staff at the Akershus University Hospital (Ahus). She claims the hospital did not take care of her son despite his bad condition from the time of arrival at the hospital to the time he died. "Am hurt and feel much sorrow for what happened to my child" says Martha who is originally from Kenya.

The hospital admits in a report that there is a possibility that some procedures were not followed as stipulated. The case has been submitted for further investigation by the state health board.

Officials from the Association of Kenyans in Norway (AKIN) met Kenya's Prime Minister Raila Odinga and his delegation at a top level round table meeting Sunday evening. The meeting held at Oslo Plaza lasted two hours and saw the leaders discuss a variety of issues ranging from dual citizenship, diaspora voting, tourism, investment opportunities for Kenyans in the diaspora, security, education and environment.

Due to the tight program of the Energy for All-Financing Access for the Poor conference which he is attending, the Prime Minister will not be in a position to meet all Kenyans in Norway this time. Hon. Odinga sent warm greetings to all Kenyans living in Norway.

Our sources state that the PM departs for Copenhagen (Denmark) late Monday.

The conference in Oslo is co-organised by Norway and the International Energy Agency (IEA) and is attended by several Prime Ministers and UN's Secretary General, Ban Ki-moon among others. The conference has attracted attendees from 20 countries including Kenya, Brazil, India, Liberia, South Africa and Ethiopia. The aim of the conference is to explore possible ways of financing access to energy.

AKIN Congratulates 2011 Nobel Laureates

The Chairman of the Association of Kenyans in Norway (AKIN) joined officials of the Pan African Women Association (PAWA) in congratulating the 2011 Nobel Laureates at a TV2 news broadcast, Friday. Apart from joining the women in the televised dance and song (Kenya's Jambo song), the chairman thanked the Nobel committee for yet again setting focus on Africa and especially on the important role the African women are playing to ensure democratic and peacefull transitions of power and viable, transparent and ethical leadership. Talking about Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, the chairman said, "she has done all that would now ensure the good results. She has studied well, worked hard, struggled and suffered, but never gave up and now the fruits of her struggles are emerging one after another".

Kenya Students Association in Norway held a jovial welcoming party to new students in Oslo on Saturday. Serving traditional Kenyan food and with top music from Kenya and East Africa, the organisers managed to send home a clear message to the new students that they should feel home away from home. In attendance were both new and old students plus a large number of Kenyans working and living in Norway. Attendees came from as far as Volda, Gjøvik, Stranda, Lillestrøm and Ski.

The Association of Kenyans in Norway was represented at the party by the Chairman, and the Secretary Mr. Makosir and Mr. Wanyama respectively.

Wangari Maathai laid to rest in Nairobi

Prof. Wangari Maathai was given a worthy farewell by all walks of Kenya at a ceremony held in Nairobi. The President, Prime Minister, Vice President, members of the cabinet and leaders joined Kenyans, diplomats and leaders from around the world to bid Wangari farewell. The funeral ceremony was held at the grounds which Prof. Wangari had blocked the Moi government from setting up what was to be Nairobi's tallest building, a 60-storey skyscraper.

The "queen of the environment" was described by the Norwegian ambassador in Kenya, Per Ludvig Magnus as "a great and remarkable woman, gifted, visionary and humble".

Ellen Johnson Sirleaf

Ellen Johnson Sirleaf (born 29 October 1938) is the 24th and current President of Liberia. She served as Minister of Finance under President William Tolbert from 1979 until the 1980 coup d'état, after which she left Liberia and held senior positions at various financial institutions. She placed a very distant second in the 1997 presidential election. Later, she was elected President in the 2005 presidential election and took office on 16 January 2006. Sirleaf is the first and currently only elected female head of state in Africa.

The body of Nobel laureate Prof. Wangari Maathai will be cremated and the remains interred in Nairobi in a state function on Saturday. Maathai had indicated in her will of her wish to have her body cremated at the Kariokor crematorium. The remains will be interred at the Nyeri-based Wangari Maathai institute for peace and environmental studies.

Abraham Jango laid to rest in Nesodden

The Late Abraham Jango

Abraham Jango (27) was laid to rest in Nesodden Friday 30th. September 2011.

Jango went missing since 9th. September but was found dead on the 16th. September between Aker Brygge and Tjuvholmen in Oslo. According to reports from media houses and CCW - Oslo, Abraham was last observed walking along Vogtsgate towards Grunerløkka on Friday 9th. September having been at the Lincoln pub, Voldsgata. It is further reported that Abraham had visited Kafe Kaos at Thorvald Meyersgate 56 around 02:54 (CET) where he used his electronic cash card.

The Police is interested in any information from anybody who might have observed Abraham after this last registered transaction says Grete Lien Meltid from Oslo Police.

Nobel peace laureate (2004) Prof Wangari Maathai (71) has died in Nairobi. The conservationist and founder of the Green Belt Movement was the first African woman to win the peace prize. She died at 10pm Sunday night after a long struggle with cancer.

Grenade found near PM's office

Prime Minister Raila Odinga and Chief Justice Willy Mutunga were evacuated from the former's office when a grenade was found within the building.

Panic gripped staff at the PM’s office and those in the building as word spread regarding the discovery of the explosive. Staff were ordered to leave for security checks.

Raila and Mutunga were in a meeting at the Office of the Prime Minister along Harambee Avenue in the morning when security officers walked in and broke the news of the discovery of the explosive.

The building was then silently evacuated before police cordoned it for search with the aid of sniffer dogs for hours. Witnesses said the grenade did not have a safety pin when it was discovered near the entrance to the basement of the building.

Deputy police spokesman Charles Owino confirmed that a plumber discovered the grenade at the basement of the building while conducting routine repairs.
Owino said the plumber informed the police who alerted the Bomb Disposal Experts who carted the grenade away for analysis.

Owino spoke after touring the PM’s office with officers Rapid Response Unit and bomb experts. Senior officers led by deputy commissioner of police Francis Okonya, Director of CID Ndegwa Muhoro and director of police operations Julius Ndegwa also visited the scene soon after the PM and his guest had left.

NAIROBI: Fire kills an estimated 100 people

The Kenyan Police has announced that at least 100 people have lost their lives following the Monday morning fire that threw Sinai slum in Nairobi's industrial area into a mayhem. The slum is close to a fuel depot off Lunga Lunga Road in Nairobi. Police sources say the number of the dead is likely to pass one hundred looking at the damage caused by the fire.

According to reports from the witnesses on site, the source of the fire can be linked to oil leakage from a pipeline feeding the depot belonging to Kenya Pipeline that neighbours Sinai slums. Residents of the slum detected the leakage and went in huge numbers to tap the fuel that later turned lethal after a reported huge blast.

Kenya's paramilitary General Service Unit (GSU) are on site and have cordoned the area around the slum. Many of the victims of the morning fire have been feried in ambulances to Mater Hospital (South B) and Kenyatta National Hospital.

Municipal and County Council Elections in Norway

2011 is an election year in Norway. The election to municipal and county councils in Norway takes place on Sunday 11th and Monday 12th. September 2011.

WHO CAN VOTE?

Norwegian nationals who

•are 18 years of age by the end of the election year, and who

•are, or have at some time, been registered in the National Population Register as a resident of Norway, and who

•have not lost the right to vote pursuant to Article 53 of the Constitution.

Norwegian public servants who are employed in the diplomatic corps or the consular service and members of their household are entitled to vote even if they do not satisfy the residence criterion.

Non-Norwegian nationals who
•have been inscribed in the Norwegian Population Register as resident in Norway for the past three years prior to Election Day, or
•are nationals of another Nordic country and have been inscribed in the Norwegian National Population Register as resident in Norway no later than 30 June in the year of the election.

Foreign nationals who give notification of moving out of Norway before Election Day lose the right to vote.

To be able to cast a vote, you must be inscribed in the electoral register in a municipality.

Trial with right to vote for 16-year-olds
In 20 municipalities 16 - and 17-year-olds (born in 1995 or earlier) may vote in Municipal Government election if they meet the other requirements mentioned above. This applies to municipalities: Austevoll, Gjesdal, Grimstad, Hamar, Hammerfest, Kautokeino, Kåfjord, Luster, Lørenskog, Mandal, Marker, Namdalseid, Osen, Porsgrunn, Re, Sigdal, Stavanger, Tysfjord, Vågå and Ålesund.

Are you inscribed in the electoral register?

Voters resident in Norway:
All persons entitled to vote are automatically inscribed in the electoral register in the municipality where they were registered as resident on 30 June of election year.

If you have moved to another municipality after 30 June, you are still registered in the electoral register and have the right to vote in the municipality you moved from.

Voters resident abroad:
If you live abroad, but has been registered in the National Population Register as resident in Norway some time in the past 10 years, you are automatically inscribed in the electoral register in the municipality where you were registered as a resident when you moved from Norway.

If you have not been registered as resident in Norway for the last 10 years, you must apply for inclusion in the elctoral register. The application is to be sent to the municipality where you were last registered as resident. You apply by signing the cover envelope used for advance voting abroad. You may also apply by letter. The application for inclusion in the electoral register shall contain a declaration that you still are a Norwegian national. The application must be received by the electoral committee, in the municipality where you were last registered in the National Population Register as resident, 12 September at 21.00 hours to accepted.

Where can you cast your vote?
On Election Day, 12 September, you must vote in the municipality in which you are registered in the National Population Register as residing at 30 June.

If you wish to vote in advance, you can do so in any municipality in Norway. The deadline for advance voting in Norway is 9 September. If you vote in advance in a municipality other than your home municipality, your vote will automatically be sent to your home municipality.

The municipal councils decide which polling stations are to be used and what the opening hours are to be, both for voting in advance and on Election Day. So contact the municipal authority for further information about polling stations and polling hours

Brenda Mwikali to be burried in Norway

Jane Brenda Mwikali will be laid to rest in Norway. A memorial service was held in honour of Jane Brenda at Ranheim Church on Tuesday 30th. September 2011. After the service, the family decided that they will lay the remains of the late at her final resting place in Norway. The burial ceremony will be held this Wednesday in Trondheim.

The committe in Oslo invites all Kenyans, their friends and all well wishers in the Oslo area to a final meeting at Willy's this Saturday, 3rd. September 2011 starting at 16:00 hours.

KACC's PLO Lumumba and assistants FIRED!

After many months tracking down the 'Big fish' and locating some huge amounts of cash and property starched away by some corrupt officials and politicians not forgetting the several pending court cases, KACC Director, Patrick Loch Otieno (PLO) Lumumba has been given marching orders.

Parliament debated and finally scooped the top record when President Kibaki assented to the bill that opted to oust the Kenya Anti Corruption Commission and the Director PLO Lumumba. Members of the august house turned their scathing attack on KACC with an unprecedented momentum from last week where they accused Lumumba of engaging in 'trivialities' including leakages to media houses and for targeting and disrespecting the parliamentarians.

The marching orders have also been given to Lumumba's deputy, John Parmenas Mutonyi who was in charge of investigations. The list also includes three assistant directors: Mr. Wilson Shollei (Finance and Administration), Prof. Jane Onsando (Preventive Services) and Mr. Pravin Bowry (Legal Services and Asset Tracing).

Reports from Nairobi has it that a new Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission will be set up and assume its duties once set up within 90 days. In the meanwhile, KACC Advisory Board chaired by Okong'o Omogeni, (former chairman, Kenya Law Society) takes charge of the operations at KACC.

My name is Jennifer. I am an 18 year old Kenyan girl, currently working as an Au pair in Denmark. My roles at my current position include taking care of an 18 month old boy (Sean) and a little house work. During the day I play outside with Sean, go for walks and sometimes for a ride on the bike with him. I have one year experience with my job. My hobbies are swimming, travelling, going for nature walks and playing basketball. I am honest, kind-hearted and I love children. I´m looking for a nice out-going host family in any country to work with when my contract with my current host family in Denmark ends in mid-December this year. I speak English and a little Danish as I am currently going to Danish language school.

My hope when I earn enough from Au pair jobs, is to join university in Kenya and study medicine. I would like to be a doctor in future.

Bomb blasts in Nigerian capital Abuja

A car bomb has killed at least 10 people at the United Nations offices in the Garki area of Abuja, Nigeria. One of the injured is said to be a Norwegian woman. The blast is said to have ripped of most parts of the building.

This is however a very expensive affair and as at the time of going to press, the price was tagged at Norwegian kroner 100,000 (One Hundred Thousand Norwegian Kroner). KiN encourages all Kenyans and friends in Norway to donate funds and assist the family and especially her daughter Naomy Njoki and her father in transporting the late Brenda to her final resting place in Kenya.

An impromptu meeting that was held yesterday at Willys in Oslo was attended by a mixture of Kenyans and friends numbering thirty. That was a great number given the short notice for the meeting.

The interim committee led by Boni Tetu informed the attendees of the plans to send the remains of Brenda to Kenya once everything was in place. The attendees were requested and encouraged to aim at con

tributing at least kr 500 per contributor to assist in transporting the said remains to Kenya.

A Kenyan lady has died at St. Olav Hospital in Trondheim. Jane Brenda Mwikali (born 1973) died last night after a long duration of hospitalization. Jane's sister is on her way (from Oslo) to visit the hospital. Jane is survived by a daughter and a husband.

We commiserate with those of you who cannot forget the images, the sounds and the smells of that black Friday.

We have thanked those of you who saved lives.
Those of you who have mitigated the pain.

Every candle has warmed.

Every rose has given hope.

We are a small country. But a proud people.

Together we have many questions.
Together we are looking for honest answers.

The second task is to be alert to any signs of extremism.
We must learn from the young.
We must counter hatred with arguments.

We must invite in those who have gone astray.
We must oppose those who want to use violence.
We must meet them with all the arms of democracy.
We must meet them everywhere.

Our third task is to create safety and security.
Good preparedness creates security.
Police in the streets creates security.
Controls. Exercises. Equipment.

We must do all of this.
But we need something even more important.
We need you.

No matter where you live.
No matter what god you worship.
Each and every one of us can take responsibility.
Each and every one of us can guard our freedom.

Together we make an unbreakable chain of solidarity, democracy, safety and security.

That is our protection against violence.

Cabinet approves four constitutional bills

The Kenyan Cabinet on Saturday approved for immediate publication and presentation to parliament four constitution implementation bills. In a special meeting at State House chaired by President Mwai Kibaki, the Cabinet approved the Urban Areas and Cities Bill 2011, Environment and Land Court Bill 2011, The Kenya Citizens and Foreign Nationals Bill 2011 and Citizenship and Immigration Bill 2011.

The cabinet was sitting for third time this week in a bid to beat the August 27 deadline set out in the constitution implementation schedule.

The Urban Areas and Cities Bill 2011 seeks to give effect to article 184 of the constitution that aims to provide for the classification, governance and management of urban areas in the country. It also provides criteria for the management of urban areas and the participation of residents.

The Environment and Land Court Bill 2011 will give effect to article 162 of the constitution. It establishes the Environment and Land Court that is mandated to hear and determine disputes relating to the environment, the use, occupation and title of land. The court shall be accessible to all without undue cost or procedural technicalities.

The Kenya Citizens and Foreign Nationals Bill 2011 establishes the Kenya citizens and foreign management service.

It provides for the creation and maintenance of national management, registration and laws relating to births and deaths, identification and registration of persons for connected purposes.

The Citizenship and Immigration Bill 2011 provides a legal framework for the administration of matters relating to citizenship, issuance of travel documents, immigration and for connected purposes.

Meanwhile, Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka has said that the Cabinet rare meeting is a demonstration of the government to fast-tracking and passing of crucial and implementation of Bills. Mr. Musyoka said the House Business Committee (HBC) during its deliberations on Tuesday will deliberate on how Parliament will extend seating hours in order to enable it debate more Bills ahead of the 27 August deadline.

Her name is Rachel Wokabi a patient at St. Mary Hospital, Paddington, London. She was found in a construction site in London two weeks ago by good Samaritans who took her to the hospital. The Kenyan lady who is 31 years is confused and her memory is gone. She is talking but she is not connecting. She can talk in Kikuyu and Swahili fluently. Fortunately she has an Italian passport and she has lived in Italy for more than 10 years before coming to the UK 4 years ago. She is thought to be a student in one of the London Universities studying Hotel Management. She is trying to remember that she is a former student at Loreto High School and has a cousin in London by the name Njoroge. She can remember that she has a mother in Kenya but cannot remember about the father. She is fair brown colour, about 5ft 6 inches and medium slim body. She has been in Kenya a few months ago where she was attacked by malaria which has affected her brain. The hospital is trying to trace her family in vain. Mathare United wins Norway Cup 2011

Mathare United's under 13 years boy's team won this years Norway Cup against Notodden FK (3-0) in a thrilling match that was nearly stopped due to the heavy rainy weather. Mathare United celebrated the win in their household musical style with songs like Mathare moto sana e.tc.

Fans from the Kenyan community in Norway took the center stage and supported the team to victory.

On Sunday 7th. August, a group of Kenyans in Norway organised a grand dinner and party for the whole Mathare team of 58 individuals. The dinner was prepared and served at Jordal School where the Kenyan players resided.
