Hello Dear

I know that we haven't known or come aross each other before considering the fact that I sourced your email contact through the netin search of trusted person who can assist me urgently and save my life. My name is Agnes O. O. Kamau Kingara 24 years old female from the Republic of Kenya, the daughter of Late Mr Oscar Kamau Kingara. My late father was a Kenyan lawyer and human rights activist who was the founder and director of Oscar Foundation http://oscarfound.org/ My Father was brutally shot dead on Thursday 5Th March 2009 after a government spokesman accused their group of aiding a criminal gang. What led to the cold blood killing is still unclear but I know that my father life was the target. You can read more about my father in the bbc link below. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/africa/7927873.stm

I am constrained to contact you because of the maltreatment which I am receiving from my step mother. She planned to take away all my late father's treasury and properties from me since the unexpected death of my beloved Father. Meanwhile I wanted to travel to Europe, but she hide away my international passport and other valuable documents. Luckily she did not discover where I kept my father's File which contained important documents. Now I am presently staying in the Mission in Burkina Faso. I am seeking for long term relationship and investment assistance. My father of blessed memory deposited the sum of US$ 4.7 Million in one bank in Burkina Faso with my name as the next of kin.

I had contacted the Bank to clear the deposit but the Branch Manager told me that being a refugee, my status according to the local law does not authorize me to carry out the operation. However, he advised me to provide a trustee who will stand on my behalf.I had wanted to inform my stepmother about this deposit but I am afraid that she will not offer me anything after the release of the money.

Therefore, I decide to seek for your help in transferring the money into your bank account while I will relocate to your country and settle down with you. As you indicated your interest to help me I will give you the account number and the contact of the bank where my late beloved father deposited the money with my name as the next of kin. It is my intention to compensate you with 20% of the total money for your assistance and the balance shall be my investment in any profitable venture which you will recommend to me as have no any idea about foreign investment. Please all communications should be through this email address only for confidential purposes.

Thanking you a lot in anticipation of your quick response. I will give you details in my next mail after receiving your acceptance mail to help me.

Yours sincerely,
Agnes O. O Kamau.

Letter from a troubled Kenyan

KiN Reports (1. Names & obvious identity removed from the article. 2. Slight edition)

Please publish this letter unedited. I know it is personal, but I believe my story may help many other Kenyans opting for the "greener life with Norwegian partners". I will send more at a later date.

I am a Kenyan living in Norway and I need all availabel help if I am to survive the test of this life. I have been married to a Norwegian and have two children but the one time nice family life has come to a very bitter end. The Norwegian legal system does not seem to care about me, bitter enough, it has become a true source of frustration. I have made agreements with my estranged spouse on how to manage our two children as far as their schooling and activities are concerned. In the agreement, we are supposed to offer our children maximum time and finances to ensure a smooth transfer from the one time safe family life to a shared weekly stay with a single parent. It pains me seeing how my children are being managed, but I have no power to change that. It is a pity that this very society that paints a nice picture out in the world of how it is managing her family affairs can practically destroy her children.

I feel misused in the sense that apart from having been and still is one very important source of income and the clear breadwinner for my family, the ex-spouse is pushing me for finances all the time. The marriage that was supposed to be cherished, filled with dreams and love was apparently simply a "business partnership", at least seen from my ex-spouse's point of departure. It seems as if the main agenda for the marriage was a simple "use your spouse for all the spouse is worth and depart when the time is ripe as you claim all that the spouse has!!".

I wish to stop here, but will come back with more on this if you publish this first part.

Successfull high profiled Kenyan meeting

KiN Reports (Majorstuen, Oslo) - Ref: Scandal hits Kenyans in Norway

A high profiled meeting was held as scheduled at the Kenyan landlord's apartment on Staurday. The well organised meeting was attended by 25 Kenyans from different parts of the country and walks of life. The landlord narrated the full story and chain of events thereby updating the attendees of the occurance and aftermath of her having rented the apartment to JR. The attendees were then shown around the apartment and were amazed to see how much was taken from the said apartment. The furniture is gone, kitchen stuff, wall lamps, paintings e.t.c.

The meeting started, followed an organised agenda with well managed discussions and ended on time as scheduled. The resolutions from the meeting present a unanimous agreement that JR (the renter) be contacted and requested to surrender the keys together with all the furniture and all that belongs to the landlord that she had taken. To effect the foregone, appointments were made and assignments attached to the various heads deemed appropriate to follow the case until the next possible meeting.

Kenyans agreed that this is a civil case that required a mature and civil attention and a friendly solution. One speaker urged the attendees to work for "a Kenyan solution" to the problem and do all that is possible to have a softer landing than opting for a tug of war in the Norwegian courts of law.

Scandal hits Kenyans in Norway

Empty living cum guest dining room
KiN Newsroom, Oslo (Thursday, 03.06.2010)
The Kenyan lady who has been staying in the apartment owned by the family of another Kenyan lady in the posh Oslo estate has finally vacated the premises. The story has it that the owners of the apartment had issued a vacation notice to the renter some six months earlier but since the latter did not have a ready place to relocate, she stayed put despite clear requests from the owner of the apartment. The conflict escalated and nearly turned ugly on several occasions but thanks to police intervention, the tempers have been controlled.

The two parties agreed after several attempts that the renter vacates the apartment as soon as possible and within a given time period of notice. The renter promised to move out and deliver the keys to the apartment to one of the landlord’s contacts in Oslo. When time closed up to the deadline of the given notice, our sources state that the renter decided not to respond to phones from the said contact making it difficult for him or the landlord to know when and where to pick the keys on the former’s departure. The renter however sent a message to the landlord telling her that she will vacate the apartment and throw out things from the basement (store) of the apartment. The landlord requested the renter to leave all that she found in the apartment at the time of moving in as it was.

The landlord visited her apartment this Tuesday after getting wind that the renter had vacated the premises. She was shocked at what met her on entering the apartment since the renter had reportedly taken all the furniture from the once very expensively furnished apartment. There were no wall units, no sofas, dining sets wall paintings and very expensive works of art, all was gone.

According to the landlord, “there is no sign of mercy here, look, they took everything including the heaviest of them, the huge wall unit”, “Imagine not even a bed is to find here, I have to sleep on the floor tonight. This is the craziest thing I’ve seen.” The renter however claims that the landlord had given her the wall unit and the sofas including the rest of the furniture.

The renter has contacted the landlord with unclear messages that the former deems threatening. The renter says she understands the landlord is telling people that the renter “stole” her things. The latter warns the landlord that “we are going to court first with witnesses, (and) then we can have peace”. It is further reported that the renter has warned the landlord that “this time I am not at your mercy”, a threat the landlord does not understand the reason or reaction for.

The landlord is inviting Kenyans to a meeting at her apartment this Saturday at 3pm. The the following invitation has been sent to KiN (names withheld hence JR):

“JR has finally moved out of my apartment after refusing to do so for over 6 months. She has however taken all the furniture and has not handed over the keys. Am inviting Kenyans in Oslo to a meeting on Saturday, 5th. June 2010 at 3 pm at my place to peacefully ask JR to return the furniture and hand over the keys.”

The physical address for the meeting has been communicated to the invited Kenyans and friends of the landlord via SMS.

KiN is following this developing story.

Happy Madaraka Day 2010

KiN Newsroom (1st. June 2010)

We wish all our readers, Kenyans at home and in the diaspora a happy Madaraka Day.

The road to Kenya's independence:
During the early part of the 20th century, the British and other European farmers settled in Kenya and became wealthy large scale farmers. By the 1930s, approximately 30 000 white settlers were in Kenya especially on the so called “white highlands” in the central part of the country.

These settlers were offered many political powers by the colonial government due to their effect on the economy. With time, Kenyans lost claims to their land as it was taken up by European settlers while Kenyans offered free constricted labour. To protect their interests, the settlers banned the growing of coffee by the Africans and introduced a hut tax, and the landless were granted less and less land in exchange for their labour. This gradually led to sharp reactions from the Africans which culminated into the Mau Mau warfare. (Mau Mau or Mzungu Arudi Ulaya, Mwafrika Apate Uhuru, meaning, the Europeans to go back to Europe for the Africans to be liberated/free).

From October 1952 to December 1959, Kenya was put under a state of emergency arising from the Mau Mau rebellion against the harsh and inhuman British colonial rule. In May 1953, the Home Guards were officially recognized as a branch of the colonial Security Forces by Britain. The Home Guard formed the core of the government's anti-Mau Mau strategy as it was composed of loyalist Africans, not foreign forces like the British Army and King's African Rifles.

By the end of the emergency in 1959, the Home Guards had killed 4,686 Mau Mau fighters, amounting to 42% of the total insurgents. The capture of Dedan Kimathi on 21 October 1956, in Nyeri signified the ultimate defeat of the Mau Mau and essentially ended the military offensive. However, the nationalists continued with their unwavering pressure on the British government for independence both at home and abroad. Consequently, the first direct elections for Africans to the Legislative Council took place in 1957 (Wikipedia, 2009). On 12 December 1963, Jomo Kenyatta formed a government and later the country was proclaimed a Republic. Kenyatta became Kenya's first President.

Madaraka Day, which is marked annually on 1st June, commemorates the day that Kenya attained internal self-rule in 1963 and her full independence from the United Kingdom.
Today Kenya celebrates her 47th year of self rule. President Mwai Kibaki is at the Nyayo National stadium leading Kenyans in the celebrations which are also marked in various parts of the country.

Together with the President are Prime Minister Raila Odinga, Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka, Speaker Kenneth Marende and other top government officials.
