Saitoti appointed as Mayor Majiwa hands over office

The suspended Nairobi Mayor Godfrey Majiwa has officially handed over office to his deputy George Aladwa stating that he wasn't bitter to vacate the office. He said "Whereas my conscience was clear that I must step aside, I was not clear on the position of the law because I was receiving varied and conflicting legal opinions on the same,".

In another development, President Kibaki appointed Prof George Saitoti the new (acting) Foreign Affairs Minister after the office was vacated by Hon Wetangula who is currently under investigations. (see earlier story).
