Kenya's Mathare United (MYSA) are already in Oslo for the 39th. Norwegian Football Tournament; Norway Cup.
The opening ceremony will be preceeded by a memorial flower parade at the Ekeberg Camping site to honour the victims of the 22. July terror attacks. The parade moves to Ekeberg School before the attendees head for the concert area behind Ekeberg Hall where artists including Kenyan Norwegian, Stella Mwangi will be performing. The flower parade starts at 17:30 and the concert is scheduled for 18:30 this evening and wil be attended by among others, the Prime Minister of Norway.
A total of thirty thousand players from the whole world are gathered in Oslo for the annual tournament that was earlier feared to face cancellation due to the recent terror attacks in Norway. However, after consultations with the Police and all relevant authorities, the Cup will continue as planned.
3810 matches will be played at 62 fields managed by 350 trained referees and 50 observers. 25000 meals will be served at the Ekeberg Hall to athletes from over 50 countries including 20 players from the World's youngest country, Southern Sudan which is only three weeks old.
KiN Sports team hopes to meet many Kenyans in Norway at Ekeberg this evening and the rest of the week. Let us all support the youth and especially the only Kenyan team at Ekeberg, Mathare United (MYSA).
