Breivik Sentenced to 21 years in prison

KiN Newsroom - Oslo
Norwegian extremist Anders Behring Breivik who admitted killing 77 people last year in a twin terror attack has been sentenced to 21 years in prison for the atrocities of 22, July 2011. The court based the sentence on the fact that Breivik was sane at the time he attacked the government headquaters and the youth camp at Utoya Island. The sentence can be extended at a later date despite it being the most servere permitted under Norwegian law.
The sentence coming after a ten-week trial in June 2012 is in line with what Breivik hoped for since he insisted that he was sane when he attacked his country due to what he called a campaign against multiculturalism. As has been his tradition, Breivik smiled when the verdict was read.
