A 13.5 billion shilling deal marks the end of teachers and lecturers strike that has tampered with education in the country since its inception on September 3rd 2012. The deal includes upgrading P2 teachers to P1 level giving this once lowest paid teacher category a basic salary hike from KSh 13,750 to Ksh 19,000 while the highest paid gets a rise from Ksh 120,270 to KSh 144,928.
Kenya National Union of Teachers officials Wilson Sossion (chairman), Xavier Nyamu (deputy secretary general) and Albanus Mutisya (Treasurer) sealed the deal with the government on Sunday 23rd September 2012.
Schools reopen for normal learning Tuesday 25th. September.
