Makueni Senator Mutula Kilonzo was reportedly found dead in his Maanzoni home in Machakos County this Saturday afternoon. Former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka announced the news at a burial he was attending in Tseikuru, Mwingi North Constituency.
Confirming the report, Deputy Inspector General of Police Grace Kaindi said they are yet to know the cause of Mutula's death and that they are in the process of conducting a thorough probe including a postmortem as required by the law.
Mutula Kilonzo was educated at Mbooni Primary School and Machakos High School before joining the University of Dar es Salaam in 1969 where he finalised his law studies and became the first to attain a First Class Honours' Law Degree in the East African region. He joined Parliament in 2003 as KANU's nominated member and continue his political career after the 2007 elections where he won the Mbooni Parliamentary seat. Mutula has served as the Minister for Nairobi Metropolitan Development, Minister for Education and also the Ministry for Justice, National Cohesion and Constitutional Affairs. Until his death on the 27.04.2013, Mutula was the Senator of Makueni.
