The much celebrated Tanzanian songbird, Ray C, has been accused by some of her European promoters for embezzling funds well aware that she would abandon their concerts. In a recent twist of events, Ray C who was scheduled to perform in Oslo on the 1st. of April 2010 has faced a hard tie between her Ugandan promoter, a tanzanian promoter (Hassan) and lots of fans who expected her to perform at the said concert. Ravellers paid dearly to attend the concert that ended up in massive 'walk-outs' and shouts of hatred and bitterness.
It now turns out that Ray C did not only miss the concert, she also (according to one of the promoters) lured them and got paid USD 4000 for a project she did not attend. It is claimed that Ray C has formed a tendency to cash in on promoters and supporters unaware that she would never turn up for the planned shows.Ray C denies all claims
In another turn of events, Ray C, in an exclusive interview with Bongo 5, states that the reason for her not attending the concert in Oslo was simply due to being denied her travel visa. She elongates her arguments by claiming that the promoter who invited her was based in Holland (yet the concert was in Oslo) and that the said person, a student, was not a Dutch (meaning a non-citizen of Holland).
Ray C continues, in swahili (mixing taarab tones) to address her fans all over Europe asking them to understand that she never got the visa due to poor preparation of papers by her promoter. She blames the same on the fact that the promoter was not a citizen of Holland, a reason most fans deem quite thin to accept. This is due to the fact that Ray C has actually been invited severally by non-citizens of the countries she has visited (including Norway). By the way, there is no demand from the visa issuing authorities that an inviting company owner (here the promoter) has to be a citizen of the country of residence.KiN is trying to get Ray C's comments on this case and will hopefully run an interview with her to our readers as soon as we are ready with the same. Ray C has assured her fans that she will soon be meeting them all over Europe once she squares the issue at hand with the promoter.
