Letter from a troubled Kenyan

KiN Reports (1. Names & obvious identity removed from the article. 2. Slight edition)

Please publish this letter unedited. I know it is personal, but I believe my story may help many other Kenyans opting for the "greener life with Norwegian partners". I will send more at a later date.

I am a Kenyan living in Norway and I need all availabel help if I am to survive the test of this life. I have been married to a Norwegian and have two children but the one time nice family life has come to a very bitter end. The Norwegian legal system does not seem to care about me, bitter enough, it has become a true source of frustration. I have made agreements with my estranged spouse on how to manage our two children as far as their schooling and activities are concerned. In the agreement, we are supposed to offer our children maximum time and finances to ensure a smooth transfer from the one time safe family life to a shared weekly stay with a single parent. It pains me seeing how my children are being managed, but I have no power to change that. It is a pity that this very society that paints a nice picture out in the world of how it is managing her family affairs can practically destroy her children.

I feel misused in the sense that apart from having been and still is one very important source of income and the clear breadwinner for my family, the ex-spouse is pushing me for finances all the time. The marriage that was supposed to be cherished, filled with dreams and love was apparently simply a "business partnership", at least seen from my ex-spouse's point of departure. It seems as if the main agenda for the marriage was a simple "use your spouse for all the spouse is worth and depart when the time is ripe as you claim all that the spouse has!!".

I wish to stop here, but will come back with more on this if you publish this first part.

Hey bro ! i feel you. i can imagine that there is no advise in the world that could get you out of this situation. but i can only console you having been through that situation. you are not alone ,but one thing is for sure you got to face the situation as it is. let not anger dictate your path. for the past 12 years i have seen my two kids grow up under the conditions the system has set up here.. now they are soon going to high school but one thing is for sure the dialog at a certain time moves on to be between you and your kids. it may be a long time depending on how old they are but believe me when that time comes you will see them move in with you and theat hunger to know you and your roots and be with you will win in the long run as they can dictate where they want to stay when they get to 13. be there for them now and dont spend much time fighting the system . believe me it will only suck out your energy. and what you need right now is negative energy.

Take care bro... all will be well
