Kenyan Celebration in Oslo

Kenyans in Norway, well wishers and friends of Kenya are meeting in Oslo to celebrate the new constitution to be promulgated on Friday 27th. August. The organisers of the Katiba celebrations informed our reporters of the following:

Train: (the fastest alternative): From Oslo S to Ski or Mysen. Alight at Holmlia Station

Constitutional referendum results published
The Interim Independent Electoral Commission IIEC has finally published the official results of the august 4th Constitutional Referendum. The results presented by the IIEC chairman Ahmed Isaack Hassan indicate that 6,092,593 (66.9%) voted for while 2,795,059 (representing 30.6 per cent of the votes cast) voted against the new proposed constitution.

The publishing of these results in a Kenya Gazette Notice released on Monday clears all doubt and opens for the signing of this historic document and a legal rebirth of the republic. The climax of the season will be the official promulgation of the new constitution this Friday 27th. August 2010.
