A bomb threat has been received by Norway's Embassy in Nairobi, Kenya. The embassy building was evacuated, and security stepped up. The threat was sent by a group with ties to Al Qaida, according to Kenyan media.
The threat was received in the form of an e-mail signed Worrier Brave. However, Kenyan police are not sure the threat is genuine, and is now searching for those who sent the mail.
The threat was justified by claiming that Norway had supported Kenya in its claim on a few islands of the Somali coast, and it suggested that the reason was that Norway had its own plans for searching for oil in the area, NRK reports.
- There is little reason to believe that the threat against the Norwegian Embassy in Kenya stems from Al Qaida, says Brynjar Lia at the Norwegian Defence Research Institute.
