Deputy President Willian Ruto ICC Trials: Pleaded not guilty
Deputy President William Ruto arrived at the International Criminal Court on Tuesday 09.092013 at 10:09 am (Kenyan time). The DP and former radio presenter Joshua Sang pleaded not guilty to ICC charges at a sitting that started on Tuesday. Ruto pleaded not guilty to charges ranging from attacks that were supposedly targeting supporters of Party of National Unity (PNU) in Rift Valley. He is facing several counts of charges including murder of civilians, deportation and focible transfer of people in Turbo, Kapsabet and Nandi towns.
Joshua Sang is accused of using his position of a presenter at a local vernacular radio station to broadcast propaganda, meetings and events linked to attacks on civilians.
Hearings continue at Trial Chamber V(a) before Judges Chile Eboe-Osuji (presiding), Olga Herrera Carbuccia and Robert Fremr.
