Former prime minister Raila Odinga found himself in unfamiliar territory after crowds of youths heckled him in Kisumu for attempting to dissuade them against destroying a controversial commemorative statue erected by the Sikh community. Attempts by Odinga to explain the importance of the statue and invoke the name of his late father failed to appease the youths who later descended on the structure with hammers and destroyed it.
