At least thirteen relatives lost their
lives in a deadly road accident when the ill-fated matatu they were travelling in
was involved in an early Saturday morning accident at a bridge on Tawa-Masii
road. The relatives were travelling from Kangundo, Machakos County to Kithungo
in Mbooni, Makueni County to attend a traditional wedding ceremony. The matatu
is said to have been ferrying at least 20 members of the groom’s family when
the accident occurred.
The vehicle is reported to have lost control, flew off the bridge and landed at the bed of River
Isivuni after rolling several times. The bridge where thirteen people died and at
least seven others seriously injured is between Masii and Tawa township which
borders Machakos and Makueni counties.
One of our own Meshach M. Munyao living in Oslo lost both his parents

gathering at Munyao’s residence, Langenga in Asker.
