Letter to the Editor

The govergment is spending so much money in an attempt to derail the planned featuring of the Ocampo Six at the Hague. The Vice President tabled figures that show the millions already spent by the system to champion the 'drop ICC in favour of our local tribunals' campaign. Several questions need to be addressed as the leaders travel far and wide to table their 'fears' for the direct involvement of the ICC in what they deem an internal Kenyan legal issue:
1. Is it a more scaring ordeal to see six prominent Kenyans arraigned in court suspected for the Post Election Violence) (PEV) than the deaths, the damage to property and the IDPs that was a direct result of the PEV?
2. Does being suspeceted for the PEV mean that one is guilty or there is a great chance of being declared innocent and set free at the ICC?
3. Why should Kenya drop the Rome Statute which she is a signatory?
4. Would the leaders now travelling far and wide do the same if the suspects were Kenyans without the huge portfolios as the named six?
5. How genuine is the position of the Government on this issue?
There are several questions but am afraid we may never get appropriate answers. By the way, why was the following video presented to the African Union? Was it to argue for or against the Ocampo Six?
